Fantasy of Flight was created in 1993 as an educational non-profit foundation with a program objective to use the excitement of aviation as an incentive towards creating a greater interest in science, math and technology.
It has an office and learning center at the Wings Over The Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver, Colorado. Most of its programs are conducted at the Museum; however, programs are occasionally taken on the road to schools and to special event locations throughout the state of Colorado. With the exception of a paid program director, all staffing support needed to conduct the programs is contributed by volunteers. The organization is financially supported by the Colorado Aeronautical Board, the FAA, Jeppesen Corporation, and a number of other aviation interests in the state of Colorado.
Major programs include:
- Primary and Middle School Program
- Colorado Aviation Career Education (CACE) Program
- Colorado Aerospace Education Teacher Workshop
